Scottish Summer 2014
LCF Graduate collection
Is isolation dehumanising destruction of man or a beautiful solitude?
The six look Graduate collection explored the concept of isolation. Stemming from a personal interest in filmmaker Stanley Kubrick's work; in particular The Shining and a study into the Scottish Highlands, the collection creates an uneasy yet humorous look into isolation.
Sections of overcoats are isolated from themselves, creating layers of individual garments. The collection explores a range of practical fabrics such as sheepskin, corduroy, wax cotton and towelling.
Using techniques such as hand-dying and applique, I aimed to modernise retro fabrics through textile manipulation. Tactility is imperative in my work as a designer.
